Parenthood

“How is parenthood?”

Two months after bringing you home, I continue to receive congratulations from coworkers and friends about your arrival.

As recently as today, someone congratulated me about you coming home, and asked me, “how’s parenthood?”

I have hundreds of photos of you on my phone, which I eagerly pulled out and shared with them.

“How is parenthood?”

Exciting. Transformative.

I’ve never experienced anything like this before.

An absolute blessing and an answered prayer.

Nearly every moment has been wonderful. The worst, longest night of unhappiness and you crying is better than you not being here with us at all. The dirtiest diaper is better than no diaper at all.

“How is parenthood?”

So much better than mommy or daddy ever imagined, because you’re you.
